5. Summary

An MOT test will typically take between 45 - 60 minutes to complete. You are more than welcome to stay at our centre whilst the test is being carried out. Alternatively, you are free to leave the vehicle with us and the centre will give you a call once the test is complete. After the test is complete if your vehicle has failed you will be made aware of any additional work that is required to make the vehicle roadworthy. This work will be at an additional cost and may not be able to take place on the same day as your MOT test depending on how busy the centre is and what work needs to be carried out. Taking an MOT retest You'll need to address the issues listed on the certificate and carry out any repairs before having your car retested. Depending on the reasons for the failure, there are a few different MOT retest options, some of which can save you from paying any additional testing fees. Leave it to be fixed: no retest fee Bring it back within one working day: free partial retest Bring it back within 10 working days: partial retest fee, which is usually half of the original testing cost. After 10 working days: If you bring your car back after 10 working days, you will be charged for a full MOT.
